these are a few of my favorite things

Paula Dean's Pecan Pie candle from Wal-Mart.. it's a perfect fall candle and smells up the room in no time! You need to get one!

"Just for one" peas and corn in a basil butter sauce.. they are delish! And only 80 calories

I can't get enough tomatoes these days! And I love this cute red bowl I found at the thrift store on base in Wichita Falls.

Every night before I go to bed I have a cup of hot tea.. it's so yummy and relaxing!

SKYPE! We have a 9:00 date every night on the webcam. I took this picture of Scott last night.. he has these different things he can put on the screen like hats, glasses, facial hair.. it's hilarious! I feel boring though because I don't have all the fun gadgets so I just sit there and laugh at him.

wichita weekend #1

I made the trip to Wichita Falls Friday after work. I got off work 3 hours earlier than planned and I was sooo excited! I was out of town by 2:30 and made it to Wichita Falls right at 7:30. It rained on me a few times, but for the most part the drive was great. Today on my way back the weather was gorgeous and I made it back in just a little over 4 hours. I only stopped once and the traffic wasn't bad at all. We had a wonderful weekend and it was so good to be with my hubby. We relaxed, ate alot, drove around and explored to city some, Scott showed me around base, we shopped a little and watched football. A perfect weekend. :)

This is Pioneer Diner, we passed by it while driving through downtown and thought it looked cool (we actually though it looked like a place you'd see on Diners, Drive ins and Dives) so we went there for lunch on Saturday.

I'm happy :) It was delicious! They had a huge menu-Scott had a cheeseburger and onion rings and I had beef and chicken enchiladas.

YUM-O!

This is a pretty lame picture-not much to choose from for a good background in a little hotel room. But this is us before dinner Saturday night. We went to a place called McBride's Steakhouse. It was VERY good. We'll for sure be going back there and to Pioneer's.

TOLD YA SO! Here we are at Pioneer's again! There's three of them in Wichita Falls that we know of. We tried out one of the other ones for breakfast Sunday morning. And we were not disappointed.

Scott played "Love me tender" and sang to me. I was embarrassed and he was cracking me up. We were impressed with the little jukebox things at each table. Pretty cool!

"you gotta learn to reduce reuse recycle"-jack johnson

It's been one week and one day without my best friend. It hasn't been too bad but it's only the beginning. I've held up very well and actually have surprised myself. I feel safe at night with our alarm system installed and I've been sleeping great except for waking up in the middle of the night a few times but I usually go right back to sleep. I talk to him several times a day so that helps and I'm going to see him this weekend! :) I can't wait to get there!

Sometime in this past week I decided to start recycling. One reason is because I have to take out the trash now and I realize how much we are throwing away. Also, because about a month ago I saw these pictures on my cousin, Jennifer's facebook of her little girl Katy recycling. I thought if a two year old is doing it, I need to be doing it! Texarkana use to have the big orange bins you put out with the trash cans to recycle but I don't ever see them anymore. I guess I'll just take my stuff to the bin at the school. Maybe Texarkana isn't "green"??? Here's Katy recycling and my bags that I'm seperating everything into, too.

Look what I had when I got home from work Thursday. God gave me a rose! I never water this or do anything to the flower bed that Scott has told me is mine to take care of and roses keep popping up!

shop-therapy

So, Scott left Monday about 11 am. He made it to Wichita Falls safe and sound and is trying to get adjusted to his new life for the next three months. He said today went good but he just really hopes this time flies by.. he's already ready to get home. He said he misses me already.. :) :( So sweet!

Before he left on Monday he told me to go buy myself a few things. He knows how to make me happy! Little did he know I was already planning on doing just that. But it made me not feel guilty about going since he told me to! I racked up on some good dress pants for work at JC Penney. They fit really cute. A Black pair, black tweed pair and some that are like brown and cream. I found a picture on their site for the black pairs. They were only $15 and the brown $20!

Mom and I went shopping for Bunco gifts at Kirkland's, Hobby Lobby, Pier 1 and B Jaxx. I did suprisingly good. They had tons of fall stuff which is mine and Mom's favorite!!! I'm dying to go to Canton but that means giving up a weekend that I already have scheduled to go to see Scott, so that's not happening.

Hope everyone has a good (short!) week! :)

date night ;)

We went to Zapata's tonight.. YUM-O! We split chicken fajitas and each had three margaritas.. =D We had a great time and while we were there we ran into one of our good friend's mother's. (Josh Thane, that we just went to dinner with last weekend at Joe's) His mom was picking up a to-go order but decided to stay and have a drink with us. She is so so sweet and hilarious! When we asked for our check to pay for our meal, the meal was paid for.. by Mary Jane. She is too sweet to do that and did not need to do that for us. She's just too sweet. We decided on our way home we would stop by the liquor store and get something. Now here I sit on the computer and Scott glued to the TV... ahh football! :) Here's some pictures of us we snapped after dinner.

counting down the days..

We got to see Molly Jane this weekend! The Mentzel's came over Saturday morning and brought Fiesta House for breakfast. We had a great time just visiting with them. I'm sure Mom and Dad were glad that Molly slept so they could have peace and quiet after a long night, but we were secretly hoping she would wake up so we could play with her! :) I didn't take any pictures and I'm kicking myself for it.

We had Scott's going away party Saturday afternoon. We just had our immediate families over for a cook out and enjoyed the beautiful weather. I worked so hard getting the house spotless all week then everyone was outside the whole time. Funny how things like that always seem to happen. :) But at least we still had a clean house when they all left! We had a great time with everyone. Ashtyn was the star of the show! She wore herself out running around like crazy. Excuse her diaper, but she got a little messy while eating and we had to strip her down. Aren't Lee and his girlfriend the cutest? They are so sweet.

tell me this baby doesn't get lovin' :)

On Sunday morning before our small group started we had a welcome home party and breakfast for Roy at church. He has been in Iraq for a year and we are so glad he's back! He looks great and was SO happy to be home! I'm so excited for Megan (his wife), too, that he is back because it was a long hard year for her with him gone. She stayed strong by the grace of God.. that's the only way she made it!

Roy is on the far left with the Razorback coffee mug (welcome back to Arkansas!!!) Rusty is next, he's our Sunday school teacher, Scotty, Bill, Derick and Bryan
Here's Megan, Sancha and me

After church we headed out of town and went to Shreveport to pick up Scott's uniforms and stuff for training. We went on base, picked up his stuff then went down to the boardwalk. We ate lunch at Copeland's Cheesecake Factory. My meal was really good but Scott didn't like his all that much. But it's okay because we hit up the chocolate crocodille and pigged out later! I had a graham cracker dipped in chocolate and white chocolate and a pretzel dipped in white chocolate and Scott had a carmel apple rolled around in a crunched up snickers bar. It was DELISH! I also got some jeans for $25 at Banana! It was a nice quick trip down there and we got back early enough to veg out for the rest of the afternoon.

"you are not alone..." M.J.

I went to the doctor yesterday and left feeling very good about my whole tummy situation. Dr. Fontenot said that she thinks it's IBS which is apparently a very common problem. She said I have the opposite problem than most people with IBS have. (I'll spare the details) But it seems to be mostly when I eat out which she said could have something to do with the way the meal is prepared at resturants. I don't know.. but I do know that we've been cooking alot lately because it is cheaper and easier on my belly. So, she prescribed me some medicine to take before I go out to eat to help easy my stomach/nerves of the fear of my stomach getting upset while stuck in a resturant. She told me I'm not crazy and that many people feel this way and have this problem so that was very comforting.

Now, I can't wait to go out to eat Joe's Pizza tomorrow night with Josh and Jaclyn! I will try out the new meds before I go because I don't want stomach pains to get in the way of my good time. I LOVE Joe's Pizza! Josh and Jaclyn are a couple friend of ours from church. They are so sweet. They are getting married November 14th and we couldn't be happier for them! They are so cute and so much fun. Hopefully Scott will get to come home for their wedding. Josh is a lawyer here in Texarkana and Jaclyn is an aide at Pleasant Grove Elementary this year, hoping for a teaching position next year. I'll post pictures of our dinner date later if I remember to take pictures.

Hope everyone has a good rest of the week! :)
