We made it back from our D.C. vacation safe and sound. We have blisters on our toes, aching knees, sinus junk and many miles put on our shoes, but here we are! We had an absolute blast! I enjoyed seeing our nationals history more than I ever thought possible. We saw so many amazing and beautiful things. I don't even know where to begin. So, I guess I'll just post some pics of my top favorite things!
Ben's Chili Bowl! This is Bill Cosby's favorite restaurant and he proposed to his wife here. And I'm pretty sure Bon Qui Qui got her skit from the ladies that work at this place. They were

See me sitting on the pillar? I love how tall these old buildings are and all the beautiful detail in the architecture. Amazing
No, the ESPN Zone was not my top favorite, but it was Scott's! I did have fun watching him and Chad act like big kids playing games and keeping the beer coming for them. They definitely had a good time and it was a cool experience. Maybe if we went to watch a game it would be more fun than just going and PLAYING games. I'm not a real competitive person, so playing games doesn't interest me much.
After a late night, or anytime really.. THIS is the place to go in D.C.!
The Diner is open 24/7 and is delicious! We went one morning for breakfast and I had the same thing, the Croque and Dagger. DELISH!
We had to wait in line at the National Archives Museum. Every time we walked by this building there was a long line but we finally sucked it up and waited in line because we weren't leaving D.C. without going. We saw the Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence The Constitution and many many other important documents. It was super cool to see all these old documents and every one's signatures. Crazy. I didn't think I'd be in awe like I was.
The National Monument is seen from almost everywhere in D.C. but I really loved seeing it from the Lincoln Memorial steps. There was just something neat about sitting on those huge steps looking out over everything. Maybe it was the fact that I'd walked 2 miles to get there and knew I was about to have to walk 2 miles back to the metro, but whatever it was, it was peaceful and relaxing.
I love Abe. This memorial was by far my favorite! Absolutely breathtaking. It is HUGE! We went back 2 nights before we left to see it at night and it was just as amazing at night! (and just as crowded, which I didn't expect)
The Arlington Cemetery was surreal. There's no way to explain how far the tombs go on and on.. unbelievable. This was one thing we had said we may skip out on doing because we didn't think it'd be too cool, but do not miss out on this if you go to D.C. Every 30 minutes they do the changing of the guards at the tomb of the unknown soldier. It is guarded 24/7, rain, snow or shine. The ceremony was pretty cool. I don't know how to explain it.. just very neat.

The American History Museum is both mine and Scott's favorite! They had so many different things there. Every corner we turned we were like "oh, cool, look!" very impressed!!!
We went to see the White House at night on St. Patty's day. It was beautiful. We could see people inside through the windows. Isn't the green fountain pretty?
Love these two guys! (you already knew I loved my Scotty, though) Chad is Scott's old fraternity brother and a good good friend. When we were dating, Chad came to Texarkana all the time because at the time he was living in Arkadelphia (about an hour away) but now he lives in D.C. and he was so kind to let us crash at his place all week long and was an awesome host and tour guide! He and Scott are non-stop entertainment when they get together.

We have made it tradition now that the last night of our vacation we go to a nice, romantic dinner. We did this on our honeymoon, in Cancun and now in D.C. We took this picture at Chad's apartment after we got back from dinner at the Capitol Grill. Dinner was amazing and the service outstanding. Scott had a filet and I had the mahi mahi.
There's no way to see everything there is to see in D.C. but we sure tried and I hope we get to go back again one day to discover some more and see our favorite places there. It was a wonderful vacation and I enjoyed it a million times more than I ever thought I would. It's always good to be home, though! :)
