it's the small things...

that really add up and make a happy home.

I hope I don't make you want to gag.. just had to share my happy thoughts :)

I was thinking this morning, it really is the small things that make me happy. Scott and I both realize this and try hard to do the "little things" that add up and make a happy home and a happy marriage. No, after 2 years we BY FAR do not have it all figured out.. I don't know if you even have it all figured out after 50 years of marriage! But I would say that he knows what makes me happy and tries to do those little things, and the same for me. For instance:

-2 eggs, easy over and two pieces of toast most week day mornings together
-simply getting out of bed to spend a little extra time together before our work day
-letting me have the remote
-flowers from Albertson's when he goes to pick up a few things for us
-having a glass of wine together
-not turning on the tv at night and just talking about our day/life/whatever
-picking up after me around the house without complaining that i'm sometimes messy
-staying in pajamas til noon on a Saturday drinking coffee and enjoying the moment
-praying together
-cooking together
-antique shopping without ever buying a single thing

We have said so many times how happy we are and we feel so blessed to have each other. We also feel so blessed to have our friends and family there for us who have helped us become who we are! Don't you love, LOVE? :)

rockin' weekend

This is what Scott told me yesterday I needed to put on my blog, that we had a "rockin' weekend"! And we did! Tomorrow, January 19th, is our 2 year anniversary. We went to Hot Springs for the weekend and stayed at the Arlington Hotel, went to the horse races for opening weekend, shopped, ate, drank, danced and had a great time! We did the same thing last year for our anniversary and decided to make it a tradition every year because we love Hot Springs and our anniversary has fallen on opening weekend both years so it's kinda cool!

We went Friday night to Benton and stayed with Jeff and Kerry and visited with them and their little girl, Annslee. Jeff is one of Scott's best friends from high school. Their daughter, Annslee is about 15 months old and a little cutie! We hadn't seen her since last July!

After the races, we went across the street to the Crosswalk Bar because there was a band playing from Moticello (Scott's old stompin grounds). Jeff's sister, Stacy knew the guys in the band and they had a table reserved for her, so we went over there to hang out with them for awhile and dance!

Here I am at Angel's in the Park. Angel's is one of my ALL TIME FAVE resturants! We HAVE to go when we are in Hot Springs, but after the races and the Crosswalk bar, we were in a cab van taking us back to the Arlington and the people on there with us were talking about Angel's in the Park, so we thought we'd try it out, and man was it deeelish! It's the same owners as Angel's and a little bit nicer and more romantic. Angel's is a wonderful lunch place though!

Sunday morning we went to The Pancake Shop. Whitney told me about an artical she saw in Southern Living that had a highlight on Hot Springs and this was one of the resturants in there. I knew I had seen it before but never been. It's right across the street from the Arlington, within walking distance, like most places downtown. If anyone knows Scotty, you know he loooves pancakes! He had banana pancakes and I had plain and they were ohhh sooo good!!! Also, with a side of bacon for him and grits for me. They were the all time best grits I have ever had! So thick and buttery. My mouth is watering right now...
The Pancake Shop is a MUST next time you are in Hot Springs!

Also, Saturday morning we got to see Mr. Jimmy!!! When Scott and I started dating, 5 years ago, Mr. Jimmy was dating Scott's mom. They dated for a long time and he is just a super guy. Him and his new wife were in town for the races, from Dumas, and he gave us a call Sunday morning and came by the hotel. It was so good to see him! We sat in the lobby and visited with him for probably an hour. We hadn't seen him since before we got engaged and he didn't make it to our wedding because he was leaving to go on a cruise the day of our wedding, to propose to his new wife! We love this man!

After an awesome breakfast and a great visit with Mr. Jimmy, we went for a walk along the Promenade and hit up a few shops!

Lunch at Fisherman's Wharf on Lake Hamilton

Dinner at Belle Arti
Very delicious and highly recommended!

After dinner we walked around The Arlington and took a bunch of pictures. We actually even discovered there is an awesome pool, actually 2, and a hot tub on the 7th floor! The pools are heated so we could have gone for a swim had we known ahead of time to bring our swimsuits. Oh well, we will have many more trips in our future!

I thought this was a cool picture of a picture of The Arlington when the road in front was being built. Obviously it was when color photography was new, too, because the color looks really funny. Cool pic though!

Isn't he such a hottie??? I'm one lucky in love girl! :)

2010 is here! We brought in the new year at the Thane's. We did fireworks, ate, drank and of course brought in the new year with a little dancing!!!
